FAQs

Is neurofeedback safe?

Yes, neurofeedback is completely non-invasive and has been used safely for over 40 years. It involves no electricity entering the brain — sensors only read your brainwave activity. It is safe for children as young as 7 and adults of all ages.

How many sessions will I need?

It is recommended to train twice a week and most clients see significant improvements within 20–40 sessions. The exact number depends on your specific condition, its severity, and your brain's response. We'll give you a personalized estimate after your brain map.

Are there any side effects associated with neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback is generally safe. Mild, temporary side effects can include fatigue, headaches, or dizziness. These effects indicate the brain working hard to achieve long-lasting changes and can last 24-48 hours, but clients typically bounce back within a few hours.

How much does neurofeedback training cost at your center?

We offer a new patient special that includes your mapping, a consultation with our director, and your first training all for $250 dollars. At that point, we determine plan for treatment and treatment costs.

What happens during a neurofeedback session?

Sessions are between 30-45 minutes and are completely relaxing. You sit comfortably while sensors are placed on your scalp. Nothing is put into the brain, it’s completely noninvasive and safe. You then watch a movie or listen to music while the sensors monitor your brainwaves and provide subtle feedback.

Do I keep taking my medication while doing neurofeedback?

No changes should be made to what medication you are taking or how much you are taking without consulting the prescribing physician beforehand. Do not make any changes to your medication regimen without first consulting your doctor.

Is neurofeedback covered by insurance at your center?

We are out of network. If you have out of network benefits, we typically find good to great coverage depending on the insurance company. As a complimentary service, we can verify your insurance for you. Call our office at 732-543-0999 to learn more.

How long do the results last?

Neurofeedback is designed to help the brain learn healthier patterns through repetition. Over time the brain is able to automatically create these new patterns, even outside of the office. Many clients experience permanent improvements. Unlike medication, you don't need to continue sessions indefinitely — though some clients choose periodic “tune-up” sessions.

What conditions can neurofeedback help?

In addition to the listed conditions, neurofeedback can be beneficial for any disorders that might cause brainwaves to be under- or over-powered. Our practice can help clients with:

  • Addiction and Substance Abuse

  • Cognitive Decline and Memory Issues
